Coming to the end of my "rope"........

A cute little video about life.........we all reach the end of our rope occasionally but just when things are starting to look gloomy, we pick ourselves up and move on with another precious lesson in hand..........I think I'll just stick to felting for the time being............and worry about the knitting tomorrow............

Black Betty

I hastily started her off as one scarf but later on down the road I incorporated her into another silk scarf with a different texture. I must admit I was surprised at the final result since she didn't give me a great vibe originally.

I tied her up at the ends into a flower like knot and added a silk and tulle flower pin. I also attached similar flowers on one end, just for the fluidity and motif of the whole project. Very elegant indeed...........

 Black Betty...............my alter ego..............

Cobwebs, spiders and other creepy crawlies............

Remember that slushy superwash merino/tencel mix I was telling you about?? Well now that I've got the hang of it, I just can't get enuff!!! Although it doesn't felt on it's own it will with 100% merino and this is the kind of effect it produces. It looks very fragile but in reality the nylon (tencel) makes it quite durable. Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to Boris the Spider and his amazing cobweb of a home!!!

20 Legged Octopus

"I'd like to be, under the sea , in an octopuses garden in the shade".................
Now that's what I call an awesome genetic mutation!! Put that in your pipe and smoke it Psychic Paul!!!
Another wool knit dress of mine that I thought wise to 'spike' up a bit!! Dreadz, pencil roving and multicolored felt balls...............half wet felted and half needle felted (worked with warm soapy water), just to make it a little more durable.

Field of Two Lips

Silk/wool scarf, a hint of Wensleydale locks for a fringe, silk cocoons and carrier rods, a flower on one end a bud on the other............why am I talking?? Just check it out..........

And a touch of Mz. P Floyd..............I LOVE YOU PHOTOSHOP!!!

More detail....................

Lady Grinning Soul

Lady Grinning Soul................she's one of my more elaborate projects. Silk/merino mix, novelty yarn, silk cocoons, silk carrier rods, pearls and a very fine open weaved silk scarf. I enjoy working with "open" weaved silk material- mostly because I love the anticipation of what the final effect will be like. After nuno felting, fulling and shrinkage the wool pulls on the silk giving it that cob web effect...........It's really very hard to believe that this paper thin, cob web, inkling of a material has suffered through the very "violent" process of rolling with soapy water for an hour and 20 minutes, being rubbed against bubble wrap for another ten and then whacked around in a bathtub under hot scalding water 20-30 times!!!

I peeled the silk carrier rods, rolled and inserted them into the silk cocoons and sewed them up with little pearls on the ends to keep them in place. Up close they look like flower buds. Lately, I have become more courageous with the word "sewing".........and it seems much easier to thread a needle and actually do it!!! Of course, at the expense of suffering several puncture wounds and bleeding out all over the place.......

3D Sculpture- Pussy Willow

Well, well, well..........look what a whole bunch of dreadz tied up properly can do!! Actually these are a part of another project I have to complete- but I must give credit where credit is due!! Yes, I admit that this was Mz. P. Floyd's idea- who said you don't have any imagination and creativity??? It all has to do with our optical points of view - you see "IKEA" whereas, I see "JAH RASTAFARI"!!!!!

Hmmmm............lets play around with "what could have been"..................
